About:
Students in Maddalena Buffalino’s ninth-grade Pre-AP World class at Carle Place High School completed an inquiry-based unit on geography.
As part of the slate of lessons, students learned how geography impacts certain regions, and connected their studies to hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. They then wrote letters and collected school supplies for students impacted by these events as a service learning activity that correlated directly with the unit.
